With No. 439 Squadron, 1 Canadian Air Division, at CFB Baden-Soelingen.  In tiger stripes paint for 1983 Tiger Meet at this base.  First Canadian Starfighter in tiger stripes?  In storage at Scottish Aviation, Prestwick, UK when struck off.  Seen at Prestwick on 4 June 1972, waiting delivery to Norway.  Reported stored at Prestwick, Scotland on 2 December 1972.  To Norway on 13 August 1974.  Had 1841:50 airframe time when received, 2489:05 at time of crash.  Crashed on 10 June 1978, approximately 17 nautical miles north of Andøya. On a mission to identify three unknown vessels 32 nautical miles from Hillesøy radar.  After circling the targets twice, flew into the sea about 5 nautical miles to the south of them.  The pilot, 2nd. Lt. Stein Ekholt was killed.

B.M. Robinson ejected.  Came down near Munsigen, Germany.

In storage at Scottish Aviation, Prestwick, UK when struck off.  To Norway on 14 February 1974, their serial 860.  Had 1891:00 airframe time when received, 2779.8 at time of crash.  Crashed on 8 June 1979, near the island of Spildra in Kvænangen.  Just after completing a simulated missile attack on a small island northeast of Spildra, the pilot noticed reduced engine power and loss of airspeed. As the afterburner was lit, the plane caught fire. The pilot, Col. Per Bøthun managed to eject, and escaped with minor injury.

Rackham ejected, but was too low for parachute to deploy.  Restored to display aircraft, present at CFB Baden-Solleingen close out ceremony in December 1992 (or was this another airframe carrying this serial number?).

In storage at Scottish Aviation, Prestwick, UK when struck off.  To Denmark on 5 June 1972, their serial R-896.  Withdrawn from use in 1983.  Later displayed in North Zealand Aviation Museum at Slangerup, Denmark.  To Danmarks Tekniske Museum in Helsingør , Denmark by 2007, with tail from R-707 (ex USAF F-104G 63-12707, Canadair built).

Last Canadian built Starfighter.  In storage at Scottish Aviation, Prestwick, UK when struck off.  To Norway on 14 May 1974, their serial 4900, later 900.  Had 1901:50 airframe time when received, 3472.3 at time of crash.  Crashed into the sea on 18 January 1983, 15 kilometres west of Bodø Air Base.  Liutnant Bjørn Larsson lost control at low altitude, ejected safely.

 

last date: 23 May 1973 - Struck off.
