One of 3 Spitfires damaged in transit in the Atlantic on the SS Empire King. All were offloaded at St. John's, Newfoundland in December 1942, and sent to RCAF Station Torbay. There, RCAF mechanics combined components to make one airworthy airframe, identified as ER824 and named "Miss Torbay". Test flown by No. 125 (F) Squadron, RCAF in March 1943. Later returned to RAF, used in Mediterranean. Survived the war.

Departed Grasnya for Sullom Voe on 7 September 1942, but forced down by bad weather near Whalsey Island the next day, damaged beyond repair. No injuries.
